airbnb made a magazine. why? because real people are really interesting! gae and mel are avid art collectors and world travelers. every nook and cranny of their potrero hill home is ripe with treasure and they've got a story to go with each. well into retirement, these folks have a lust for life so strong, it's infectious. i take great joy in the fact that my photo practice has lead me to encounters like this. many thanks to the folks at airbnb.

THE NEW WESTWARD EXPANSION: GROUP SHOW AT TARTINE BAKERY /
starting next weekend, tartine bakery will host a group show curated by andrew berg of small works.
this three-part show focuses on a romantic connection to california, its land and bohemian culture, as well as a particular group of artists who, through their love of the area and social practice, comprise a unique moment in local art.
the first part of the series, the photo show, is chock full of local photographers whose work i've admired for a long time: andrew paynter, kanoa zimmerman, terri loewenthal, lauren douglas, jesse schlesinger, cody welsh, airyka rockefeller, jordan bennett, alissa anderson and david uzzardi.
